Hi Citylife,
Here is your weekly email to keep you up to date with everything happening in the life of our church.

Come ready for this Sunday!

Our Global Offering is an over-and-above offering separate from our regular tithing.
1. Ask God in prayer what He wants you to give over the next twelve months for Global Missions.
2. Write it down on the bottom of the Global Offering card.
3. Tear it off and place it in the Offering Box.
4. Pin the top half of the card on the Globe.
5. Actively trust God for His provision.
6. Give!

SUNDAY MESSAGE SUMMARY

WHAT IS YOUR WHY? with Deb Hilton

Meri here! I was encouraged and challenged by Deb’s message on Sunday and thought this would be a great opportunity to mention how relevant this message is for our upcoming Women’s Night (Saturday, 5th April). Deb challenged us to consider our ‘Why’ addressing our purpose and calling in the way that we serve God and serve others.

What gets you up in the morning? For me personally, it can often be the relentless determination of my children for me to get up and make them breakfast! Genuinely, though, we can all consider what motivates us each day and what keeps us going when life gets challenging. If you don’t know why, how are you supposed to find it?

Deb suggested four questions that I’ve also included in the cell group content for this week:

  1. What do you naturally gravitate to?

  2. What are you good at?

  3. What are you dreaming about?

  4. What have friends, family, and those in ministry spoken over or about you or recognise in you, about your calling?

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

1 Peter 4:10

Deb shared a story to encourage us that sometimes we doubt what we have to give, but “Don’t underestimate your cake!” Even simple things done with love and consistency can have an impact, and we need to keep going because the lost are depending on you knowing and living in your why.

At the women’s night this Saturday, we will have some food, fun, and time to get to know each other, as well as some discussion about our passions and interests for serving our community. I would love us to consider our skills, hobbies, and, as Deb said, those things that we dream about or keep coming back to. Let’s look into what ways we can start to act out those passions in our community.

Deb continues…

When you know your why, the fire inside of you doesn’t go out, and not just when everything’s going smoothly. You are more energised and creative because of the grace upon you and your faith in the impossible to keep going.

There’s a difference between a good thing and a God thing.

Stepping out in just a ‘good’ thing won’t sustain you, but knowing that you’re doing a God thing will anchor you in the challenges that come.

When you already know you’re why:

  1. Protect your why because the enemy is waiting to trip you up and attack the very thing that you are called to.

  2. Keep company with others who know their why. Iron sharpens iron, and they will be your best ambassadors and encouragers.

  3. Don’t get comfortable in your why. When you start to get comfortable, you lose momentum and effectiveness. Remember, God wants you to stretch. He will give you more than you ask or imagine.

If you have lost it, at what point did you lose your Why and what caused you to lose it? Know that God has never abandoned you. The calling still remains on you. He is faithful and walks with you the whole way. Hebrews 13:5 says, “never will I leave you NEVER will I forsake you.” Take some time to read through Psalm 139:1-18.

There is a fresh opportunity to stand again and walk in the calling God has placed on your life. Throw off everything that hinders you and fix your eyes on your own race, on Jesus and not the paths of others.

3.4 billion people are still unreached.

That is why we need to know our ‘why’ and pursue it, not growing weary but stirring each other in the faith. When you look back at the end of 2025, will you be glad you experienced all that your ‘why’ had to offer, or will you wish you had?

CELL GROUP CONTENT

Deb Hilton had so many great questions for us this week about finding your calling. Here are some focus questions for cell groups about discovering your ‘why’.

  1. What do you naturally gravitate to?

  2. What are you good at?

  3. What are you dreaming about?

  4. What have friends, family, and those in ministry spoken over or about you or recognise in you, about your calling?

Key Verse: 1 Peter 4:10
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

Global Month: What is Your Why? - Deb Hilton [ 30.03.2025 ]

HOPE FOR THE ILLAWARRA

The Hope for the Illawarra Celebration hosted three events over the weekend with 7,800 people in attendance and witnessed 1,000 individuals boldly respond to a Gospel invitation. Dr Michael Youssef concluded the campaign with a capacity crowd of 3,600.

You can watch/rewatch the Saturday night Hope for the Illawarra celebration on YouTube here.

OVER & ABOVE GIVING

There are three opportunities to go over and above your regular giving to contribute to other areas.

  1. Love Offerings
We invite you to contribute to a love offering for both Paul & Deb Hilton and Andrew & Maija Thomas. Both couples will be joining us over the next two weeks, and we intend to bless them with a special offering. Please give online and put either ‘Paul and Deb’ or ‘Andrew and Maija’ in the description (Use the Global bank details below).

  2. Hope for the Illawarra
From the beginning, the decision was to make the event free so that there would be no financial barrier for the people we invited. However, the event still needs to be paid for. Half the cost is being covered by Leading the Way, and the other half is to be covered by the churches of the Illawarra. If you are going (and even if you aren’t), can I encourage you not to treat this as a free event but as something you are investing in for God’s Kingdom in the Illawarra. You can give online here or via direct debit using the details below.

Account Name: Hope For The Illawarra

    1. Ask God in prayer what He wants you to give over the next twelve months for Global Missions.
    2. Write it down on the bottom of the Global Offering card.
    3. Tear it off and place it in the Offering Box.
